Relentless Precision and Automated Scale
In medium to high-volume contract manufacturing, variations in manual welding can cause compounding delays in downstream assembly, fluctuating costs, and unpredictable defect rates. Openex solves this with comprehensive, state-of-the-art robotic welding automation.
Our dedicated robotic welding cells merge massive part-handling capacity with high-speed, defect-free automation. Specifically designed for repetitive, high-integrity heavy components like transit chassis, trailer frames, excavator linkages, and military structural assemblies, our robots eliminate human fatigue and drive down per-unit manufacturing costs while achieving 100% cosmetic and structural repeatability.
The Openex Automation Advantage
- 🔄 Synchronized Multi-Axis Positioning
Standard 6-axis welding robots are not enough for massive parts. We pair our welding arms with synchronized heavy-duty rotary tables and head-tailstock positioners (acting as a 7th or 8th axis). The part continuously rotates *with* the robotic arm, guaranteeing that the arc remains in the optimum 1G flat or horizontal position continuously—resulting in faster deposition and perfect penetration.
- 🎯 Tactile & Laser Seam Tracking
Even laser-cut parts have micro-tolerances. Our robots feature real-time Through-Arc Seam Tracking (TAST) and tactile sensing. The robot “feels” the joint prior to arc initiation, automatically adjusting its path to compensate for thermal distortion and ensure the weld is deposited perfectly dead-center in the joint.
- 💰 Cost Mitigation & Rapid Throughput
By maintaining a significantly higher Arc-On time compared to manual welding (eliminating stops for slag cleaning, position shifting, and operator fatigue), robotic welding heavily drives down the labor cost-per-part on runs of 50 to 5,000+ units.
