Massive Scale Metallurgical Finishing
Fabricating massive structural components is only half of the engineering challenge. Heavy plate welding introduces immense thermal stresses that will warp components over time or during CNC machining. Furthermore, equipment bound for extreme marine, mining, or offshore environments must be aggressively shielded against rapid corrosion.
Openex maintains absolute control over project lead times by performing all Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), Surface Sandblasting, and Industrial Coating strictly in-house. Our facility houses some of the largest heavy-load heat treatment furnaces and controlled-atmosphere painting booths available in contract manufacturing.
Integrated Finishing Capabilities
Thermal Stress Relief Heat Treatment
Before we pass massive weldments onto our heavy CNC machining floor, we remove locked-in internal stress. Our computerized natural gas furnaces feature synchronized, multi-zone temperature controls to ensure homogeneous heat saturation up to 1,200°C without micro-cracking.
- › Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT)
- › Full Annealing & Normalizing
- › Quenching & Tempering (Q&T)
Abrasive Blasting & Surface Prep
Industrial coatings instantly fail if the steel is contaminated. We process all massive assemblies through highly-efficient, recovery-style steel grit and shot blasting booths, fully removing welding scale, rust, and oil to exact cleanliness specifications (e.g., SSPC-SP 10 / NACE No. 2, SA 2.5).
- › Heavy Steel Grit / Sandblasting
- › Creating optimum microscopic paint-adhesion profiles
Industrial Painting & Specialized Coating
Delivered inside enormous temperature and humidity-controlled coating facilities, we offer marine-grade, multi-stage paint systems utilizing airless and electrostatic spray applications. Perfect for marine rig bases or chemical equipment requiring chemical-proof jackets.
- › Two-part Epoxies, Polyurethanes, Zinc-rich Primers
- › Verified multi-layer coating film thickness (DFT/WFT)
- › Inspected by on-staff NACE qualified engineers
Facility Sizes & Tolerances
We specifically invested in super-sized infrastructure to match our enormous lifting limits and machinery profiles.
