Heavy Fabrication for the Power Generation Sector
The transition and maintenance of global energy grids rely on infrastructure built at an unprecedented scale. From massive stator frames housing immense generators to heavy turbine casings handling extreme temperatures and pressures, power generation components demand an exact intersection of heavy fabrication capacity and micro-millimeter precision.
With 180 acres of facility space, 250-ton indoor crane capacities, and world-class 5-axis gantry milling centers, Openex is a trusted manufacturing partner to OEMs and EPC contractors worldwide. We deliver complete, turn-key fabrication, machining, and assembly of structural and pressure-retaining components for wind, hydroelectric, gas, and nuclear power sectors.
Sectors We Support & Components Built
💨 Wind Energy
We process ultra-thick plates to manufacture massive structural and rotational components for both onshore and offshore wind farms.
- • Nacelle Base Frames & Housings
- • Generator Stator & Rotor Frames
- • Wind Tower Internal Components
- • Offshore Transition Pieces
🌊 Hydropower
Hydro components endure decades of cavitation and water pressure. We utilize heavy horizontal boring and vertical turning for these massive parts.
- • Hydro Turbine Runner Hubs
- • Large Butterfly Valves & Wicket Gates
- • Heavy Penstocks & Draft Tubes
- • Stator Housings & Thrust Brackets
🔥 Gas & Thermal
Machining complex heat-resistant alloy weldments that must retain geometric stability under extreme thermodynamic stress.
- • Gas & Steam Turbine Casings
- • Exhaust Ducts & Diffusers
- • Condenser Shells & Water Boxes
- • High-Pressure Pump & Compressor Bases
⚡ Energy Infrastructure
Supporting broader energy ecosystems, including nuclear containment, hydrogen generation, and grid-scale storage facilities.
- • Vacuum Chambers for Energy Storage
- • Transformer & Switchgear Tanks
- • Massive Substation Steel Structures
- • Industrial Battery Racking Systems
Uncompromising Quality & Tolerances
When an electrical generator frame spins at high speeds, a millimeter of runout or a micro-crack in a weld can trigger catastrophic failure. At Openex, quality is literally built into the process, guided by ASME Section VIII, Section IX, AWS D1.1, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Large Scale Dimensional Inspection (Metrology): Using massive Zeiss CMMs, API Laser Trackers, and FARO Arms, we inspect geometries of housings spanning 20+ meters to exacting tight tolerances.
- In-House Thermal Stress Relief: Because welding massive stator and turbine frames introduces residual stress, we utilize giant on-site annealing furnaces (Post-Weld Heat Treatment) prior to precision machining to ensure zero dimensional shift in the field.
