Vacuum Chambers

High-Vacuum (HV) & Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV)

Large Custom Vacuum Chamber Fabrication

Manufacturing large-scale vacuum chambers requires an uncompromising commitment to precision. A single microscopic weld defect or slight flange warpage can compromise the entire vacuum system.

Openex specializes in the fabrication, heavy machining, and testing of massive custom vacuum chambers for energy storage systems, aerospace testing facilities, semiconductor equipment, and industrial vacuum furnaces. With our massive rolling, welding, and 5-axis CNC machining capacities, we can manufacture large rectangular, cylindrical, and spherical chambers to your exact blueprints.

Vacuum Chamber Manufacturing Specifications

We build robust vacuum vessels designed to handle extreme pressure differentials and thermal stress. Below are our general manufacturing capacities:

Maximum Dimensions Lengths up to 25 Meters | Diameters up to 8 Meters
Primary Materials 304/304L & 316/316L Stainless Steel, Aluminum (5000/6000 series), Carbon Steel.
Flange Machining Custom large flanges (CF, ISO, KF) machined flat for O-ring or copper gasket sealing.
Welding Standards TIG (GTAW) continuous internal vacuum welds, completely free of porosity, slag, and crevices. AWS & ASME certified.
Testing & NDT Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing, Hydrostatic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiography (RT).

The Openex Fabrication Process

1
Heavy Rolling & Forming

The chamber bodies are formed using our heavy-duty plate rolling machines to create perfectly cylindrical or D-shaped shells, minimizing the need for excessive longitudinal welds.

2
High-Purity Vacuum Welding

Our certified welders perform multi-pass TIG welding. We utilize strict back-purging techniques with inert gas (Argon) to prevent oxidation, ensuring the internal weld surfaces are perfectly smooth and free of trapped volumes (virtual leaks).

3
Post-Weld Machining & Finishing

After thermal stress relief, the chamber is moved to our large CNC gantry mills. We machine all mating flanges, O-ring grooves, and instrumentation ports to extremely tight flatness and surface finish tolerances to guarantee a perfect vacuum seal.

4
Helium Leak Testing

Every chamber undergoes rigorous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including Helium Mass Spectrometry, to verify absolute leak-tightness before it leaves our facility.
